love and blogs

i love finding new sites and blogs to start following (especially when they feature my work :). i was notified today that one of my craft/vendor aprons was featured on indie craft shows. this is a site you must visit, especially if you are new to the festival scene. you can search for festivals in your area, and if you don't see one that you are part of, you can list it yourself. the posts on the blog portion consist mainly of tips and tricks to vending. all the questions i constantly see being asked in the etsy forums are answered here. i am especially excited to see a section they are rolling out next week about different display ideas. as i have preached before, it is not just your work that will bring people into your booth. you must create a beautiful atmosphere for them to shop in. i am so excited to see what people have come up with for their booths!

updates and etsy

after an overwhelming response to my craft aprons at the festival last weekend, i have been sewing my little fingers off. there are now 7 for sale in the store in case you were kicking yourself for not buying one when you could. along with the aprons, i have posted some new shades and a few sweet lamps. i am also trying out a new photographic style. photographs are the most important part of any etsy site and it is soooo time consuming to get the right set-up. what do you think, anything front page/treasury worthy?

thanks for being such a great model, joy!

i am gearing up for a weekend full of game playing, yard sale hunting and movie watching. oh, and a little work will be thrown in there as well. i have a pretty exciting project on the horizon that i need to get finished up and shipped out. everyone cross your fingers for me, even though i can't tell you what for... yet :)

aprons and a good day, until...

dear walmart,

when i spend all day making craft aprons in order to update my shop and i realize that i don't have any cover-able buttons, and i drive miles in rush hour traffic to enter your store which i try to avoid at all costs, just so i can buy the buttons and finish the aprons and then photograph and upload all by friday... please have them in stock.

sincerely,
a disgruntled customer

cottage courtyard and sales

hatch market has come and gone. it was the first year, so there were a few bumps in the road, but all in all, i am happy with how the weekend turned out. after a quick booth switch, joya jewelry and i landed under a beautiful vine covered arbor in the sweetest cottage courtyard complete with a water fountain.

thanks for all who came out to support the local artists. i hope more indie craft fairs start popping up around atlanta in the future. it is a great way to find personalized items for you and your home.

now, if you'll excuse me, i have to go find space for more creations!

love and marriage?

have i mentioned yet that i live in a golf cart community? i really must start tagging posts so i can remember what i have written about. oh well, for those just joining me, i live in a golf cart community. a place where there are more golf cart paths than roads, teenagers are given golf carts on their 16th birthday instead of cars and most days you will find me running errands on my own blue cart. munchkin number 2 and i set out this morning for the post office and then to lunch with daddy. the paths are so peaceful, this one circles the lake and is a beautiful 2?? mile loop.

i came across these drawings that a man, let's call him jim, left for his special someone, lets call here, oh i don't know, dawn.
is it her birthday, is he really missing her...
or wait, maybe this is a well planned out proposal that i am witnessing, or...
maybe jim is just hungry :(

let's hope he proposed to her at dinner ;)

hatch market and vacation mode

isn't the ebb and flow of life amazing sometimes? like when you have pennies in your bank account and you get an unexpected bonus check, or when you say you can't take another day of rain and the sky immediately opens up, or when you are about to close your etsy shop for the weekend and you get the first purchase you have had in weeks!

just a little reminder that i am participating in the griffin, ga hatch market this weekend. so for anyone who has a favorite item in my shop, get it now before it is gone. friday, at 10 pm (est), the Linwood Avenue store will officially be in vacation mode. i'll be back bright and early monday morning ready for business, and with fingers crossed, a drastic cut in inventory :)

cotton pickin fair and finds

if you noticed the countdown to the cotton pickin fair on my side bar for the past few months, you may have noticed that it has been replaced. the fair was this saturday and i had a wonderful time yard saling. the first few years i lived here, i actually visited the fair, which is a great day in itself. it is reminiscent of fairs from years back; clogging, antiques, fried apple pies, well worth the trip. until one day, i realized all the yard sales that were happening. picture one stretch of country highway full of yard sales for 15-20 miles. that is when i ditched the actual fair and have made a bi-yearly ritual of hitting the sales.

i picked up 8 little firestone white bowls, perfect for separating small art supplies, a vintage globe for my son and among other things, this pair of beautiful milk glass lamps. i had planned on rehabbing and selling them, but i don't think i can part with them. they are so sweet, and as a bonus, they have a nightlight in the globe part. a little tlc and some new chrome fittings and they will be good as new.

i have been talking about yard sale finds with my friends a lot lately. the euphoric feeling you get when you find an item that speaks volumes to you. what is your favorite find?
